Description

How do you teach innovation? Join us for a fun exploration of this question.

Across the US and around the world, educators at all levels are looking for strategies, tactics, and tools that will help their students become more creative. Traditional education focuses on helping students learn “pre-thought thoughts” (as one educator put it). However, many of the largest challenges facing humanity require innovative ways of thinking. But how do you teach innovation? In this hands-on learning workshop we’ll explore fun ways to explore this question.

Pre Workshop Assignment:

  1. Read this: https://medium.com/startup-grind/invention-literacy-5915a411e29d
  2. Watch this: https://youtu.be/ibrwte1QqUE
  3. This will be a hands-on experiential learning presentation. Please bring to the session:
  1. LED tea light (minimum of one but preferably two; available at Dollar stores)
  2. Aluminum foil
  3. Tape
  4. Paper - 8.5x11 printer paper works great
  5. Colored pencils/markers or crayons
  6. Small screwdriver (flat head not phillips head)
